Approach

Our Approach

Have you ever wondered why some very talented athletes make it to the professional level and why others don’t? It all boils down to three things. Desire… a plan… and coaching.

To achieve your dreams and live the life you’ve imagined, you need the same three things as a professional athlete. You must have more than just the desire. You need the plan to take you there. In addition, you must have the help of a coach focused on you that has the experience and knowledge to help you make adjustments when needed.

Working with Complete Financial Planning, Inc., you’ll utilize our proven processes to guide you through all stages of the financial planning process. Our methodology has been developed based upon industry accepted practices and has been refined over the years to optimize effectiveness. While the specific processes used may differ slightly based on your personal needs, the following details the foundation of our core processes.

Step 1: Identify, Establish and Prioritize Goals

Financial Planning is about achieving your hopes and dreams: a comfortable retirement, paying for your children’s education, buying a home, providing for loved ones, becoming debt free, and so on. During this step of the process we will discuss what it is you want to accomplish in life and how your finances play a role. Because specific goals are usually tied to a certain point in the future, this step will also help establish your time horizons for achieving your goals.

Step 2: Gather Personal and Financial Data

Next we gather all of the pertinent information to assess your current situation. Your present circumstances will have a significant impact on the plan that’s best for you. Some of the information will come from your bank and brokerage statements, insurance policies, estate documents, and your most recent tax returns.

Step 3: Analyze and Evaluate Financial Data

During this step of the process we analyze your information to assess your current situation and determine what options make sense and are feasible for you to meet your goals.

Step 4: Create a Plan

It’s now time for us to create your roadmap to show you how you can achieve your specific goals. We’ll get together and go through the plan with you. Making sure you’re aware of all options available to you. Your plan may call for immediate changes, such as diversifying your investments, shifting your asset allocation, consolidating accounts, optimizing your insurance coverage, or drafting wills and other estate planning documents.

Step 5: Implement the Plan

During this step, the agreed upon plan details are established and put into place. Implementing your plan may involve opening certain types of accounts or purchasing certain types of securities, policies, funds or other financial and investment-related products. Together we’ll prioritize the areas needing attention and implement the recommendations over time. We never try to do everything at once and will proceed at a pace you’re comfortable with.

Step 6: Review and Monitor the plan

This step involves keeping an eye on your progress over time. For example, monitoring and refining your plan based on the performance of your investments, periodically rebalancing your portfolio to keep your asset allocation on target, updating your insurance and your estate plan, and so on. It also includes revising your plan as necessary as your life changes (i.e. marriage, divorce, newborn, job loss, disability, etc.).
